Coorg — Kodagu on the map — is the coffee country of the Western Ghats: 1,500 metres of rolling estates, pepper vines twisting up shade trees, and homestays where the filter coffee arrives before you've unpacked. It is the single most-booked weekend destination out of Bengaluru, and for good reason: you leave the city on a Friday night and wake up to mist sitting in the valleys below Madikeri. Weekends here split between the easy stuff — Abbey Falls, Raja's Seat at sunset, the Namdroling monastery at Bylakuppe — and the harder-earned kind, like the Tadiandamol summit or a river dip at Dubare. Best time to visit

October to March is the sweet spot — clear mornings, cool nights and coffee blossom in February. June to September is peak monsoon: gorgeous, green and slippery, best for waterfall chasers who don't mind rain.
